The program will be 2 weeks in duration, split between Chicago, IL and New Orleans, LA

Emergency Medicine Global Learning Exchange flagship exchange program is conducted in Chicago, IL, USA, with other educational offerings in several cities and countries around the world. The paramedic program is split between Chicago and New Orleans. Contact us if you are interested in an EMGLEX educational session in your home country!

This program will be open to all active paramedics working in the prehospital setting internationally.

The flagship exchange program is fully OBSERVATIONAL, so you will be observing in your various practice settings, working one-on-one with an attending emergency physician at times while observing in the ED, trauma bay, and completing numerous pre-hospital ride-alongs in various settings and vehicle types. Some shifts will also include working with US based EM residents and medical students, firefighters, and other paramedics.

The paramedic exchange program costs $550 USD. Travel and housing must be arranged and paid by each participant as this is on a rolling schedule.

In Chicago you will stay at the EMGLEX house with the flagship exchange program physician participants. You will need to arrange your own accommodations in New Orleans, however we are more than happy to assist you to find a great place to stay!

Chicago, and New Orleans, like any major city, have some crime and some areas that are less safe than others, however as in most cases, what you hear on the news and reality are miles apart. In most areas, including EMGLEX activity locations, these places are quite safe, far from what you might have seen on TV.  Dr. Asrow as a native of the city does an extensive orientation to make sure you know how to stay safe and understand different parts of Chicago and surrounding suburbs, and our wonderful partners in New Orleans will be pleased to do the same.

We began in 2017 as an experiment, had a pause during covid, and have been back up and running again since January 2023!

Send us a message through the website, on our social media channels, or email Dr. Asrow directly at Lexie@EMGLEX.org, we are always looking for connections and collaborators globally!
